Nollywood actress, Sarah Martins, has taken aim at her fellow actor, Yul Edochie, following a disappointing turn of events surrounding a prophecy he made regarding the outcome of the Super Eagles’ highly anticipated clash with Ivory Coast in the AFCON final.
As reported by Today Reporters, the Super Eagles suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to the Elephants of Ivory Coast in a thrilling encounter that unfolded on Sunday night in Abidjan.
In the lead-up to the match, Yul Edochie had taken to his Instagram page to share his prediction, confidently asserting that the game would tilt in favor of the Super Eagles. In his post, he boldly proclaimed that the match would not need to resort to a penalty shootout, expressing his belief that Nigeria would emerge victorious over Ivory Coast.
However, much to the dismay of Yul and countless fans across the nation, his prophecy failed to materialize as expected, leaving many Nigerians disillusioned and inundating his social media platforms with a barrage of scathing comments.
Adding her voice to the chorus of disapproval, Sarah Martins penned a scathing rebuke directed at Yul via her own Instagram account, accusing him of squandering what she perceived to be a golden opportunity to validate his purported divine calling.
In her impassioned post, Sarah lamented that she had harbored a sense of foreboding from the moment Yul made his prophecy, instinctively sensing that the Super Eagles were destined for defeat. She went on to suggest that had Yul refrained from making his prediction, the outcome of the match might have been different, expressing her disappointment in his actions.
“The moment pastor Yul prophesied, I knew we were gonna lose. The only opportunity he had to prove that indeed God called him,” Sarah wrote. “If he held back his prophecy, we for win. Orishirishi.”
Sarah’s critique underscores the weight of responsibility that comes with making bold declarations, particularly in matters as fervently followed as sports outcomes, and serves as a cautionary tale for those who dare to speak with certainty on the whims of fate.
