The Nigerian Bar Association strongly opposes the recent Enhanced Trade & Investment Partnership Agreement, allowing UK Attorneys to practice in Nigeria.
In an email to NBA lawyers on Tuesday, the NBA President stated, “I was made aware of the news regarding the alleged signing of the Enhanced Trade Investment Partnership Agreement between Nigeria & the UK. The NBA views this statement from the Honourable Minister as absurd, unpatriotic, and misinformed. It is regrettable that this painful reminder of our colonial past is being celebrated by the highest levels of the Nigerian Government.
What’s even more distressing is that a decision of this magnitude, impacting the wellbeing and livelihoods of millions of Nigerians, could be made without any consultation, particularly with the Nigerian Bar Association.”
